Look at the practical differences
A studio can offer controlled light and camera distance. A selfie can capture an ordinary moment but may suffer from close perspective, clutter or a repeated angle.
Review both candidates
- Check current likeness and natural expression.
- Compare light and eye sharpness.
- Preview the crop at phone size.
- Ask what each image adds to the set.
A relaxed phone portrait taken by a friend may outperform a stiff studio frame for your particular profile. A clean studio headshot may be useful when your camera roll lacks a clear introductory image.
Build a coherent mix
Do not make every supporting picture look like the same session. Keep real context and varied framing alongside the main portrait. The goal is an understandable representation of you, not proof that you used an expensive or deliberately informal production method.
