Start from the original
Use the widest good-quality version rather than recropping a screenshot. Preserve headroom and enough shoulder space for the app's available framing controls.
Review the preview
- Check the top of the hair and both sides of the face.
- Make sure hands or other people are not awkwardly cut.
- Inspect any overlaid interface elements.
- Reopen the profile after saving to confirm the result.
A landscape travel photo may need a different crop from a close portrait. Do not stretch it vertically to fit; choose a crop or another image that remains natural.
Keep a reusable master
Save the original and your chosen export separately. App layouts and previews can change, so an old fixed-dimension recommendation may not match what you see now. Judge the current display and prioritise a recognisable face over filling every part of the frame.
