Identify the issue
If the face is too small because the picture contains lots of empty background, crop first. If the composition is already right but the file is too large, resize a copy. Neither operation creates missing facial detail.
Use a clean sequence
- Keep the original file.
- Choose the composition with a crop.
- Resize the export if the destination requires it.
- Check the final preview for sharpness and proportions.
A landscape photo may need a portrait crop for a tall card. Changing its width without preserving proportions would distort the person rather than solve the framing issue.
Avoid repeated exports
Return to the original when trying another version. Repeatedly resizing and saving an already compressed copy can reduce quality. Charmshots's local editor is useful for ordinary framing work; it should not be treated as a way to reconstruct parts of the scene that are outside the original photograph.
